The clients for Samui rental accommodation come mainly from northern Europe during the peak holiday seasons and the average length of stay is a week to ten days. During other months of the year expatriate customers from places like Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan are also a major market, while long term rental clients are usually foreigners working on the island or retired folk who may spend several months at a time on Samui.
With a strong internet presence and prolific worldwide marketing, rental villas on Samui are increasingly in demand at every level and budget. Even at the high end, many of the larger villas can accommodate groups of friends or families, and this makes them very competitive when compared with luxury hotels. As this sector expands, it may well provide serious competition for conventional hotel accommodation as it provides affordable luxury and privacy at a price no longer achievable in other parts of the world.
